PERSPECTIVE...

Sometimes the lines just aren't meant for you to wager. This is advice that every capper should keep in mind. Today is a prime example... I've looked, studied, double checked and am still trying to find a winner but for some reason there is absolutely nothing that I like. Patience is key, sometimes you have to just sit back and wait for a winner to show itself. In a profession like this, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having patience... It's being smart with your money and bookies hate that.

FREE PICKS: LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

This is my first FREE PICK in over a year but hopefully I can take time out to do this more often... I have many reasons for choosing this team but I'm gonna make the writeup short and sweet. Golden State is a whopping 18-3 this season which is pretty damn good even for their standards... I've watched every one of their games and the one thing that seems to effect them the most and IMO has been the biggest factor in their three losses this season is athletic big men at the 4 or 5 spot that can either produce points themselves and/or snag rebounds. The 3 teams the Warriors have lost to are the Spurs, Lakers and Rockets, and they all have a player or players that fit that mold. Some better than others but each of those 3 teams all have big men that produce... Tonight the Warriors play arguably the best big man combo the league has to offer in Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan and that is why I am siding with the Clippers here. Some extra tidbits to keep in mind tho, the Warriors have won 6 in a row against the Clippers and the Clippers have also lost 2 of their last 3... But I look for the +4 point HOME DOG to come out swinging tonight. Look for Jamal Crawford to be a key contributor to help keep it close if not get an outright win tonight.

DISAPPOINTED...

As the final bell rang on Saturday Night's Light Heavyweight Superbout between Ward and Kovalev, I was 100% certain I had made the right assessment siding with Kovalev and just felt he did more than enough to stay undefeated and retain his title belts... Then all of a sudden, what has tainted boxing for almost the last decade reeled it's ugly head right back into the mix... All three judges scored the bout 114-113 and awarded Andre Ward the unanimous decision. I'm not gonna spoil it for those that have yet to see the fight but I will tell you that the majority of those that did see it(casual fans and boxing enthusiasts included) had it going the other way... That to me is the real issue with boxing especially when it comes to the outcome and who is decided the "winner"... The lack of TRANSPARENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY in this sport is what will ultimately be it's untimely demise. How come as fans we never get to see the judges on camera even tho they are the most intricate part of the equation when deciding the winner? In all of my life watching boxing I have never once seen the judges get introduced or even catch a glimpse of them on camera, not once... But seriously tho, WHY NOT? I genuinely feel as though the lack of a governing body in this sport is why shady tactics like this are allowed to happen. I'm not gonna go on about the current state of boxing and the fact that I feel this is the most CORRUPT sport there is today but I will tell you that on Saturday night, boxing lost another fan... Until drastic changes happen, I will no longer watch, follow or even support this sport. All I can say is I feel extremely bad for KOVALEV... And I have nothing against Andre Ward, he fought one hell of a fight and the surprised reaction he made when he was announced the winner made me believe he wasn't part of the BS that went down with the scoring... So props to both fighters for giving it their all. For now tho, I will be focusing on other sports and continue to try and live the American Dream...

WARD VS. KOVALEV

Heading into the Light Heavyweight Title Bout this Saturday Nov. 19th. I was deadset on ANDRE WARD @ -140 odds. But upon further review my opinion has changed significantly. Sure Andre Ward is one of the best pound for pound boxers of this current generation and also has not tasted defeat since he was 13 years old, which is almost two decades now, BUT is there really value in laying 40 more cents on the dollar against an UNDEFEATED CHAMPION in SERGEY KOVALEV who is known for being an extremely hard hitter and possesses one shot knockout punching power? Andre Ward has alot of baggage on his side that includes an almost two year layoff as well as nagging injuries that he claims in the video above almost ended his career, not to mention the fact that he moved up in weight class to take this fight... As of right now, if I had to place a wager, I would take the +120 on KOVALEV, not because I think Kovalev is the better fighter, but only because I will win more money on what is arguably one of the most evenly matched fights we've had in quite some time. We're roughly two days away from what is being touted and could easily be the fight of the year so my opinion can change within that timeframe, but as of right now I'm leaning towards the "UNDERDOG" here.
